INNOVATIVE WORK BASED ON THE LAST LEAF: INTERACTIVE FLIP BOOK

An Interactive Flip book to analyze the whole chapter The Last Leaf was prepared, so that the students could easily relate the chapter with what was seen. The term interactive itself proves that there is a scope for everybody to fall in love with the material prepared. 

Last leaf is a true inspirational story which has brought tears in everybody's eyes. The story was written by O Henry, a true heart who wrote many great stories. The first page introduces to us the story and then the concept of interactive Flip book. 

    When it comes to the next page, a description of what is in the story is introduced . It also answers certain questions that arise in everybody when they here the phrase, The Last Leaf. It analyses the genre to which it belongs.

The person, who looks into the page, gets the idea of what a short story is.  The next page describes the title of the story author’s life, his famous books, as well as my opinion about the author.

In the upcoming pages the main characters as well as the characteristic traits are introduced. The difficult words as well as their meanings are conveyed with the help of yet another interactive material. Then the multiple perspectives, comparison of characters, character types etc are made clear. A detailed plot summary is provided in the next page. The last page of the work is the plot pyramid containing exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution etc.

FINALLY IT HAS COME TO AN END.....
Those beautiful days that brought great memories has come to an end. We are no longer teachers of the institution. We were called back to the college after the teaching practice. 

8 January 2018

     The chapter was yet to be completed. My 30th lesson plan was over by the day.  As the chapter deals with scientific inquiries the passages appear a bit difficult for students in order to avoid such difficulties various teaching aids well prepared to make the chapter easy as well as attractive. The student's were of the opinion that the chapter was too tough for them to digest. I tried to boost up their confidence create a cordial situation first students to learn. I really enjoyed the day as my students were too full of positive energy. They usually come up doubts and queries which in turn is a symbol they go home and revise the chapter. 

9th January 2018

   The lesson plans as per instucted been completed but it is essential for a teacher to do justice to what has been taught as well as what should be taught. So I decided to complete the chapter. While teaching my teacher visited my classes. While entering into the class I was drawing a picture to teach them the meaning of "peck" his attend the class for a long time and interacted with the students I got my record as well as my reflective journal signed during the time. We had teacher trainees from other colleges too in a school. They were called back after their teaching practice. We bid farewell to the loving hearts, it was real fun to spend time with them they gave us really sweet memories.  

10th January 2018

    The chapter would be over in 2 classes. The memoir is a bit difficult one, hence it is necessary for a teacher to give them notes. The chapter and it's theme was transacted to the students this day. Students were made to recollect what was taught the last class and thereby led them to the lesson. I had a substitution at IX D. The students were vibrant and they interacted with me for long time. I taught them some english too. The 10th standard students had model exams these days. I was so blessed that I got an examination duty. Yet another wonderful experience......... 

11th January 2018

    I was not able to complete the lesson plan last day. So I decided to complete the chapter this day. By God's grace I was able to transact the content to the students. I gave them notes too. We had a small examination, so that I could reduce the stress in them. Class was more of an interaction rather than mere lecturing. I was so happy that my students approached me and clarified the doubts. 

12th January 2018

  It's all over and we are no longer teachers anymore. That was a heart broken farewell. No more hectic schedules or extra classes. Life as teacher trainees ended this day. I Never wanted to bid farewell show the school as well as the students. I collected feedback from the students, had some informal interaction and hence enjoyed the last moments at the school. We talked to the headmaster, his attitude towards us was a bit disappointing and this model behaviour shattered us. Was a real wound in our heart. We met the principal and bid farewell. His words were so encouraging and motivating. Thank you for all the best times spent as a teacher.

THE SAGA CONTINUES.

   Jesus was born, happiness overloaded.  Like every day that day also went.  And it's a new year, a new year with a hope that everything would go well.... Yet another year that witnessed millions and tons of resolutions and oaths. I also took a resolution that I would try hard to transform some kids, pave way from darkness to light. I was so excited to welcome the New Year and back to the celebration in the practicing school I was really delighted that I can see my students and wish them a Happy New Year.

1st January 2018 

   Students who were enjoying the 10 day break may not be interested in coming to the school this day. I was really tensed about the marks my students have acquired for the Christmas examination.  On the whole I felt that the day would not be very interesting. Though a new year, it was really gloomy at the early morning. I have already started the new unit before the examination. I have completed  a poem  and has established the theme of the whole unit.

  The unit gave due importance to science and scientific enquiries. I have already prepared some teaching aids related to the new chapter and hence decided to take classes based on the chapter.  It was a memoir written by the very famous scientist Richard Feynman who is known as the father of Nanotechnology. As a teaching aid, I have prepared a glossary describing the difficult words and also a chart displaying the profile of the author.

 As the teachers had to discuss the question papers and distribute the answer sheets, we did not get classes the day. Set up a library had a chit chat and the day went by. By 12:45, we went to serve food for the students and I realized that it was the best of experience. I had an interaction with the teacher in charge regarding the marks of the students. Teacher was so happy that most of the students secured high grades in the exam. I too was so delighted. As part of my project I collected some materials from the SPC coordinator for school and we also had an interaction.

3rd January 2018

As I did not get the classes the last day, I have already had teaching aids and materials to teach the students. I was planning to start the chapter by taking the aid of a story. Man is inquisitive in nature. They often come up with questions about things that they see, feel,  hear or experience.  The chapter entitled "the making of the scientist"  describe the story of Richard Feynman and his father who made him a well known scientist.

 While we were preparing for the chapters, the headmaster announced the kids to assemble at Auditorium as there was a district wise inauguration of the District wise programmes of women's rights protection and defense. As the topic was about social responsibilities of women, I rushed to the place where the meeting was held. I found it really interesting; Women police officers dressed up were ready to give the demonstration of various defense methods.

The chapter was introduced to the students with the help of a story, the Story of Adam and Eve. It was out of the curiosity that they ate the fruit the Forbidden tree. The topic was hence introduced and thus led students to the chapter.

4th January 2018

 Examinations are the most dreadful thing in the life of a student. He always shrinks back from examination. He or she might become pale, shrunken, or might have a terrible peer at the teacher who gives them the examination. So in order to get rid of their examination fear, I decided to put them a small examination. It also aimed at analyzing how much the student understood the topics taught And to know whether various learning objectives of satisfied.

After an informal interaction in the class, I supplied the question papers to the students and made sure that nobody looks at each other. As the numbers of questions were more than 20, I was afraid whether they would be able to complete the test in 45 minutes. The students were really Cooperative and they wrote whatever then you according to the questions asked. Questions were framed in such a way to avoid students discussing each other. The technique was to an extent was a great success.

5 January 2018

I was not able to complete a lesson plan the last day, hence decided to go a bit faster. While at the class the usual word game was given to the students in order to make them updated with new vocabulary. After the informal interaction and checking the previous knowledge I went into the chapter. The topic was taught to them with the help of related stories. Students during the time were rapt listeners.

THE WEEK AN OVERVIEW

As days passes, I am falling in love with teaching profession. Brought me really happy moments and I was able to complete works on time. The week was not too hectic, we were able to incorporate other works along with this. I felt that, telling stories always brings in students a curiosity to learn.
